Introduction

Microsoft Word comes out to be one of the worldwide most widespread word processing programs. Almost everybody has it at least installed on his computer.

The strange thing about it is that most people stare at their word processor as if it were some foreign visitor who can not be communicated with. Like an unwanted visitor, Microsoft Word takes up valuable amount of space on the hard disk.

It is surprising that most people do not know how to use Word. Sure, the task of learning how to do mail merges or assign macros may seem like advanced programming. The present Tutorial will take the mystery out of word processing. We'll begin with the very basics of starting a document, saving, printing, and the like, and advance to topics such as formatting. This Tutorial has not the intent to explain all the immense possibilities of Microsoft Word. It should help you start up working with Word.

This tutorial focuses on Word 2000, though users of other versions of the software will find much of the information helpful. In fact, for the basics, the steps to use Word in different versions are nearly identical.
