The Library of the University of Macedonia, (Thessaloniki, Greece) is organizing this year the 10th Pan-Hellenic Academic Libraries Conference, under the general subject: The Conference will take place from the 15th until the 17th of October 2001, at the amphitheater of the University (ground floor). The Pan-Hellenic Academic Libraries Conference has been established as the most important event in the field of Librarianship and Information Sciences, because it deals with significant and flaming issues of this field. One such issue is the Management in Academic Libraries. Successful operation of libraries and efficient coverage of users’ needs were always depending on the effectiveness of the libraries’ structure and management. In modern times, though, where a great number of innovations, the technological booming, the appearance of new services, but also the plethora of information in digital format have come into the scene, the demand for a new management model covering every aspect of library functions is even more imperative. Therefore, management in Academic Libraries does not only refer to financial or human resources management, but it is extended to cover additional subjects, such as: management of electronic material, management of services, management of access, management of copyright, etc. The Conference will give to all participants the opportunity to share their experience, thoughts and speculations on these subjects. We reckon that it will offer a substantial assistance to the librarians for the confrontation and settlement of the problems they encounter in their daily occupation within the framework of a modern academic community. We would be particularly delighted if your company/organization would be willing to financially support the Conference. Sponsors can contact Mrs. Elsa Tsanaktsidou (tel. 891.831, fax 857794, e-mail: tsanel@uom.gr) or Mrs. Voula Vozana (tel. 891.846, fax 857794, e-mail: vosanav@uom.gr) during working days and hours. We would also appreciate it, if you could notify your interest to us until the 20th of July 2001. If desired, the University will offer space for the exhibition of your products/services. Additionally, your company/organization’s logo will be posted on the Conference web-site, and of course it will be appearing on the printed material to be distributed at the Conference. |
