The open access software dbWiz is a federated search tool which represent a really remarkable effort of Simon Fraser University Library of Canada. Pantou, the federated search tool of the Library & Information Center of University of Macedonia is based on dbWiz. Pantou offers the possibility of simultaneously search either to a group of sources or to single databases of users choice.

SmILLe - System management Interlibrary Loan electronically

The new interlibrary loan system was developed by the Library & Information Center of University of Macedonia. The new system covers the users’ interlibrary loan needs and supports the interlibrary loan process not only between library and users but between libraries as well. The system has been designed by the protocol ISO ILL in the frame of Library & Information Center job. However it can be expanded to other job models. The system is under AFL(Academic Free License) license.

Moodle is an open source course management system. Moodle was used in the implementation of Telemathea, an asynchronous education environment that supports the teaching of foreign languages and seminars at the University of Macedonia.

Dspace :: http://dspace.lib.uom.gr

The DSpace digital repository system captures, stores, indexes, preserves, and distributes digital research material. Dspace was used to implement Psepheda, digital library & institutional repository of the University of Macedonia. Dspace hosts digital content such as:

•    Presentations
•    Theses

The Scout Portal Toolkit (SPT) allows groups or organizations that have a collection of knowledge or resources they want to share via the World Wide Web to put that collection online without making a big investment in technical resources or expertise. SPT was used to implement Thira, Thematic Index of Internet Resources of the University of Macedonia Library and Information Center.

Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP)

Linux Terminal Server Project (LTSP) is an add-on package for Linux that allows many people to simultaneously use the same computer. LTSP was used as the operating system for University of Macedonia Library public terminals.

Squid Proxy Server

Squid proxy server is used to provide access to IP based subscription services for users which are not connected to the local area network of the University of Macedonia.
